A good survival kit is the cornerstone of any survival/preparedness plan. What kind do you need? How much should you spend? What would you use it for? That depends... Think of all the emergency situations you could find yourself in. If a disaster occurred when you were away from home, a survival kit in your vehicle could help keep you alive and/or help you to get home. If a disaster, natural or man-make, occurred when you were home, you might have to leave, immediately, without any time to pack essentials. A pre-packed survival kit could be the answer.
If there is a societal disruption causing, among other things, the halt of trucks resupplying grocery stores and you live in an urban or suburban area, you might have to leave in a hurry. A survival kit - a bug out bag - will help you survive. You should consider the possibilities and then make your purchasing decisions accordingly. Are you single, married, have children? Have enough gear to take care of everyone in your group.
